Controlled DBS sample collection – from proven material to reliable samples
Dried Blood Spots (DBS) offer a simple way to collect blood samples and prepare them for laboratory analysis. The quality of sample collection plays a crucial role in this process.
Built on a proven standard
The Ahlstrom 903™ is an established reference material for Dried Blood Spots and stands for proven material quality and consistent absorption.
Building on this, we at LockCon have developed our own collection system for the controlled collection of small blood volumes. It enables the collection of a defined blood volume per spot and thus supports standardised sample collection.
In this way, we combine proven DBS material with our own expertise in sample collection. Our goal is to make sample quality as consistent as possible from the point of collection and thereby provide a reliable basis for laboratory analysis.
Reliable. Precise. For reproducible results.
The development of our DBS solution is ongoing. Further information on the next steps and availability will follow.
Longer shelf life for Partial Samples V2
Good news for our Partial Samples V2: Based on comprehensive safety testing, the product’s shelf life can be extended in the future.
Until now, the shelf life has been limited to 18 months. The safety tests carried out have now provided the basis for extending this period.
The tests will be completed by the end of the month. We will then be able to determine the new shelf life, and the updated shelf life will be reflected in your next order.
This gives you greater flexibility when using Partial Samples V2, while ensuring that our high standards for safety and quality continue to be fully met.

A kit that fits your sample collection process
Every sample collection is different. Depending on the application, different containers, materials and utensils are required. So why work with a standard kit when requirements can vary from one application to another?
Our Klic kits are designed precisely for this.
Flexibly combined. Individually assembled.
All our kits are based on the same Klic closure system – secure, reliable and intuitive to use. Klic containers are available in four different sizes and can be flexibly combined.
This allows the kit to be tailored precisely to the respective application and individual requirements.
But it is not only the containers that can be customised. If required, we can assemble all the necessary accessories directly in the kit, for example:
- Gloves
- Needles
- Blood tubes
- Swab sets
- Urine funnels
- Other required accessories
Do you need a specific combination for your sample collection? We will be happy to advise you and assemble your kit individually according to your requirements.
Everything included. Everything in one place.
We assemble and deliver the finished kit complete. This means you have all the required components exactly where they are needed – and do not have to search for different individual items before a control.
Individual inserts or instructions can also be integrated directly into the kit upon request.
No missing components. No unnecessary searching. No assembling on site.
With our Klic kits, you receive an individually tailored solution – everything from a single source.
Laboratory caps with 2D code – simply scan instead of typing
Our grey laboratory caps for securely resealing samples are also available with a 2D code.

Your benefits:
- Scan ID numbers quickly and easily
- No manual data entry required
- Avoid typing errors
- Save time
- Clearly identify samples
A practical solution for greater efficiency and safety in the laboratory.

An exciting week at ICRAV in Melbourne
What an exciting and varied week in March at ICRAV in Melbourne, Australia!
Monika and Roger were there and took the opportunity to see many familiar faces again, deepen existing friendships and make new connections. Alongside interesting conversations and valuable exchanges, there was of course plenty of time for socialising as well.
The horse race on Saturday was the highlight of the week. Naturally, Monika and Roger also caught the racing fever. 🏇 The big win may have eluded them – but many great memories of an eventful week in Melbourne will remain.
And after ICRAV comes before ICRAV: We are already looking forward to the next edition, taking place from 20 to 24 September 2027 in Edinburgh!

Urine cup – 90 ml now clearly highlighted
Sometimes it is the small details that make all the difference. Our urine cup has always featured a black scale for excellent readability – even from the opposite side. What is new: the 90 ml marking is now bold and highly visible, making the minimum volume even easier to identify and read.
Benefits at a glance:
- 90 ml boldly marked – for fast and clear reference.
- Black scale – easy to read from all sides, even through the cup.
- Enhanced comfort – helpful for all users, including those with reduced vision.
These small but effective improvements make the work of DCOs (Doping Control Officers) and other users simpler and more reliable.
PS: Did you know the Klic100 kits are also available with a scale? This ensures the marking is clearly visible directly on the kit.
New solutions for dried blood (DBS)
Are you already working with dried blood samples (DBS, Dried Blood Spots)? This method offers a simple, cost-efficient, and reliable way to collect and analyze samples.
We are already active in the field of finger blood and continuously develop new approaches to make using DBS even more comfortable and efficient.
The details are still under wraps – but we will reveal the secret soon. Are you ready to take the next step with DBS? Share with us which requirements and needs you have in this area.
2 or 4 tubes?
How a small holder makes a big difference in animal blood sampling
If you do not collect animal blood samples every day, you may have experienced this:
That moment of doubt when you are standing at the safety containers, unsure whether the A sample needs four tubes or just two… Or maybe in the rush of daily tasks, the wrong number of tubes ends up in the wrong container.
These small mistakes happen more often than you would think — and in the worst case, may lead to invalid samples.
Our Solution: Foam Tube Holders
That is exactly why we developed our new product: practical foam holders that sit directly inside the safety containers. At a glance, they show how many tubes belong where — helping you save time, avoiding confusion, and minimizing errors.
• A sample: 4 tubes
• B sample: 2 tubes
Simple, clear, and reliable.
Why It Works
The foam tube holder brings calm, structure, and security to blood sampling routines. No more guessing, no more recounting — just smooth workflows.
The benefits at a glance:
• Clear visual guidance directly inside the container
• Fewer mix-ups and handling errors
• Faster sampling process
• Higher reliability and sample quality
Small Tool, Big Impact
Sometimes, it is the simple solutions that truly change everyday practice. Our foam tube holder is lightweight, easy to use, and designed with one goal in mind: To make animal blood sampling easier, faster, and more reliable.

New: tear tab for waterproof bags
Our waterproof bags just got even more convenient: with the new tear tab, they can be opened quickly and easily – no scissors or other tools needed.
The trusted quality remains unchanged: the bags are still completely waterproof and carry the Blue Angel, the official environmental label for particularly resource-efficient and low-emission products.
This means our bags offer double the benefits: more convenience in daily use – and the confidence of choosing a product that is both practical and environmentally responsible.
50% time saved when opening kits
Our automatic opening machine has been further optimized – it opens each Klic kit in just 2-3 seconds.
What does this mean for you? 50% time saved compared to the previous solution. A small upgrade with a big impact – boosting efficiency in your daily lab work.
Future-ready packaging – PPWR-compliant from 2026
From summer 2026, the new EU PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) will become mandatory. It sets clear requirements for packaging to reduce waste, facilitate recycling, and strengthen the circular economy.
Our packaging already meets these PPWR standards today. We deliberately use only as much packaging as truly necessary. After use, our packaging can be easily reused for laboratory transport and then simply recycled. This way, you are fully prepared when the new regulations take effect.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Legally compliant: Our packaging already meets the new EU requirements from 2026.
- Sustainable: Cartons made from natural, recyclable materials; consciously minimal, reusable, and easy to recycle.
With us, sustainability its not just a regulation – it is a standard we live by.
Annual Greetings
Our greetings to you
What a wild ride!
The last 3 years have been incredibly intense, exciting and fulfilling. We admit that we are sentimental these days for two very important reasons. First, we celebrate the successful worldwide deployment of the Klic System Series!
We also look back on a prosperous 2022.
All the best for the new year
Doping sample sets must be protected against tampering twice: empty on the way to sample collection, filled on the way back to the laboratory. The LockCon packaging offers this dual protection with multiple tamper-evident features. Nevertheless, the handling is self-explanatory. The outer packaging is easy to open, the empty bottles for A and B samples are easy to remove and close for return, which takes place in the same outer packaging. For the jury, LockCon combines exemplary high protection against tampering with high convenience in handling.

Klic100 gold – ITA's drone project
It is a great honor to see the Klic100 gold taking part in such an innovative project. The lightweight kit was selected to support the ITA’s drone project in cooperation with the Anti-Doping laboratory (ADLQ) in Qatar. With this proof of concept, a sample can be transported from A to B without getting stuck in heavy traffic and therefore losing valuable time.
It fills us with pride and joy and we are always happy to support such initiatives.
Thanks to all the stakeholders involved and congratulations to this successful test and project!

Motivation to go! Listen to this great speech and you will move mountains. Just like we do it for #CleanSport:
A new star is born
We are pleased to introduce the third kit in our Klic product family. The Klic10 has been specially designed and developed for the blood collection and is of course equipped with LockCon’s usual security and authenticity features. Simplicity and handling are further convincing arguments for the new Klic10. Try it out!

Integrity of the Klic system is the only one tested and successfully passed
Trust is not only simply written in our slogan, but we live it. For this reason, our systems have undergone various tests at recognized laboratories and test organizations, all of which have passed with flying colors. These really thorough tests have covered the following topics:
1. Material tests – integrity tests
2. Stability tests
3. Safety tests
4. Manipulation tests
5. Authenticity tests
Thanks to these really consistently positive results, we are also able to refute some of the myths that keep coming up in the market, such as glass versus plastic:
The extensive integrity tests in particular have at no time revealed any difference between the samples stored in the glass container or in the plastic container in terms of unchanged analysis results. This is also true after all aging and application processes have been simulated. The result was always the same – NO difference. We can say that the Klic100 has been tested more extensively in terms of adsorption and migration (integrity) than any other product on the market.
We endeavor to check every statement we make and have it verified externally and by experts. Transparency and sound statements are firmly anchored in our core values. We are pleased to see that the new “medical grade” plastic offers only advantages. Light, extremely stable and break-proof and stable analysis values.

Case Study about one of our additional security features
